Snowflake Challenge #6

I feel like my go-to answer is always "The Secret Saturdays" cartoon, especially the character Drew Saturday, lol. A couple shows that hold similar importance to me are Earth 2 and Terra Nova.
BUT I'm going to talk about a comfort film instead this time: Loving Annabelle. Loving Annabelle is a sapphic film taking place in an all girls Catholic school. Annabelle is a new student who's got a rebel streak and Simone is an emotionally troubled teacher she takes interest in. One thing leads to another and they become involved.
I'm someone who has always leaned older in the people I'm attracted to. That taboo as a teenager combined with being a lesbian meant I really could not relate to anyone around me. I just wasn't into anyone I "should've" been interested in. I also couldn't really relate to the communities centered around age gaps at the time because they were so heterosexual. I kind of felt like an anomaly... which is odd looking back, because it feels like it's trendy now on places like Tumblr to be into ~MILFs and DILFs~. I'm sure a lot of the people embracing that now were the same people calling me gross for fictional age gap ships or claiming I was perpetuating predatory lesbian stereotypes with them, but I'll take these developments if it means other teens have an easier time.
Anyway, feeling like an outcast at the time meant finding a film that represented me so fully was a lifeline! It doesn't have the happiest ending, admittedly, unless you're privy to the extra features on the DVD. And there are some iffy themes about star-crossed lovers even though in reality it's probably kinda immoral to have sex with your underage student. Buuuuut something about this film just feels like a blanket I want to wrap myself up in. I've rewatched it a few times since my teenage years and it still means a lot to me even now. I actually got a copy of the script which has been enlightening for understanding more of the story's development and getting "more" of the film to enjoy.
I'm not sure other people would enjoy it to the extent I do, but I think it's always worth checking into earlier sapphic films as long as you're patient with it being somewhat representative of the time it came out in.
I'd love to hear about if anyone else has a show or film that holds similar meaning to them!
